Easter Egg Bag

Crochet Easter Egg Bags

This year we are skipping the plastic Easter eggs, and paper confetti, and making these super quick, and easy crochet eggs! We are filling them with 'Yarn Confetti', or jelly beans, to hide and gift to friends and family.

These cute and fun crochet Easter EGG BAGS work up so quick, that you can make them and fill an Easter basket in no time. Make eggs to hang, display, or hide these joyful little eggs filled with treats, like jelly beans or tiny toys like marbles, and make delightful little Easter treats.

Pick your favorite colors, work up some quick egg bases, then have fun decorating your many eggs. Make with or without lines and dots, or add fun bunny and chick faces.

Skip the sweat treats and be like Pooh, stuffed with fluff! We use 'yarn confetti' 🎉 for stuffing.

While I have been using yarn for stuffing for many years, I never thought to give it a name. The adorable name Yarn Confetti comes from this crafty YouTuber Nicole, of Off the Hook Crochet aka Yarn glitter.

Egg bags are affectionately dubbed 'Easter Beggs'

Yarn: Worsted Weight

Hook: G (4 - 4.25)

Special Stitches

BegDc: Sc in sp, ScFlo of sc just made = Dc, or Hdc.

Hdc: YO, ins hook, YO, pull thru, YO, pull thru 3 lps on hook.

Ch: Chain
Dc: Double Crochet
Flo: Front Loop Only
Hdc: Half Double Crochet
lp: Loop
Sc: Single Crochet
Sl st: Slip Stitch
Sp: Space
St: Stitch
YO: Yarn Over

Begin

Ch 9

Row 1: BegDc in 2nd ch from hook (= Hdc), Hdc in next 7 chs, turn (do not ch 1 here and throughout) (8 Hdc)

Rnd 2: BegDc in turning sp (= Dc), Hdc in next 7 sps, turn. (8 Dc)

Rnd 3 - 14: Repeat Rnd 2.

Rnd 15: Ch 1, turn to unworked side edge, BegDc in side of Hdc, Ch 1, (Hdc, Ch 1) 12 x's evenly across side going into base of hdcs, fasten off leave 24 in tail for later.

Decorate your egg as you would like.

You can top Sl at to create designs, and

Sl St from top or bottom for different looks.

This egg was crocheted top Sl St from the back to give it this this line without sewing!

You could even add a face! Along with some fun Spiral Bunny Ears.

Fasten off, weave ends.

You can make a spiral for grass, or ears, or make a simple 50 - 75 ch, and weave thru rnd 15 in and out of hdcs for drawstring.

Here at Doily Designs, we have not seen this used anywhere else, and having used it quite a bit on edges lately, I have decided to give this stitch combo a name, and call it the Riffle Edge.

Riffle edge looks best with contrasting colors.

This stitch combo is so simple, and gives an interesting look and texture to an otherwise simple, plain edge. Americana Coaster Pattern seen below.

The Riffle Edge stitch combo works nicely on projects both large and small. Like on the Valentine's Day Heart Coaster seen below.

Lately, this has been a favorite edge to use on anything from blankets, doilies, coasters, and more.

This simple, but interesting combo gives a little something extra to the look and feel of a crochet edge.

Below is an example of the use of the Riffle Edge on the Lacy Layers of Love Valentines Heart Coasters.
