Little Crochet Witch

Witchet  🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

Little crochet witch, Witchet's Story....
Born under the September 2012 moon, Witchet was never invited to the Halloween Ball. All the other witches were afraid of her, for fact that she was so GHOSTLY pail, and plain.

She never smiled, and lacked emotions.

Picture below of Witchet, taken September 2024, when Witchet was spotted down by the web stream. . . . .

Our lonely, little Witchy poo lived a solitary life in a tree.

Every Autumn, Witchet would gather courage, come out, and try to join the other witches, as they prepared for the yearly Halloween Ball. But every time she tried, her lack of expression made them all afraid of her, and it didn't help that Witchet herself was filled with fear, and paralyzing doubt, too afraid to even smile, so sad.

Then one blazing hot Texas day, a mysterious Pumpkin fairy came and granted Witchet a special gift, a LOVE infused Pumpkin, with a smiling Jack-o-Lantern face. (seen below)

The little pumpkin was just what Witchet needed, as it give her the confidence to keep trying, and as she held the pumpkin close, a magical glow grew from in her heart, and began to give her sight thru new eyes, and the light shown thru a twinkle in her new eyes, and she glowed, and sparkled as she ran out to tell the other witches of her new found expressions.

Witchet was greeted by the other Witches, at the Halloween ball. Everyone loved Witchet's new look. Together, they all laughed, and danced the night away💝

Thank you for stopping by. Hope that you enjoyed the story of Witchet.
Best wishes, happy crocheting,

Happy Halloween!

Crochet Fails

Cleaning out my yarn I came across quite a few of my crochet fails

Someone may find these humorous, or maybe even inspirational. 😅

Pony Bead Belt was an epic FAIL. Similar to what I was going for, but just no.  Maybe for bellydance, or a costume of some sort. 🤔 But this one I may have dared to wear once since 2010.

Basically a very FAILED project.

Santa Hat  2010
Major Fail

Result of trying to make an all white Santa cap with a fun new stitch that I'd learned, using minimal yarn, with no pattern.

Never worn, major FAIL.  It almost looks okay in the first picture, if you roll it up like 4 X's  😅

Next is my first Halloween pouch. This wasn't so much of a fail, as it was just not pattern worthy.

The fringe was not the best idea for its use, and the giant knot 😅  My kiddo enjoys using it through the Halloween Season year to year.

Another not so much a fail, as just kind of funny to see the progression of my crochet, and patterns.

Old vs New Water Bottle Tote 😅

I kind of like the first one, but not so much the strap. The second one has the first blown away with the awesome strap. It is my go to strap pattern. ;)

The first water bottle holder can not be counted as a fail for the fact that I used it for a few years. I strived for many years to make a better water bottle pattern, with many fails. The second Water Bottle Tote pattern definitely did not fail, and I have made many, including the pattern for sale on Etsy.

Recently, I added my free Chunky Scarf pattern on the blog, which was where I began using pony beads with crochet.

Back then, for many years I had wanted to add bead work to my crochet, but all the bead holes were too tiny for the yarn or tapestry needles, accept for pony beads, which at the time, did not have quite the look that I was after.

Later they come out with some metallic and clear pony beads that I had found later, and they were acceptable for my use, so I tried them. Other than a few projects to experiment, like the belt, I have not used them much. I did use them on my Chunky Scarves. (Click Here to find the free Chunky Scarf pattern on my blog.)

Crocheting with Pony Beads

Pony beads work great with crochet, for the large holes that yarn easily feeds thru.

While crocheting in my free time, I was learning new stitches from a stitch dictionary, and wanted a scarf. I got a little carried away with the soft plushy yarn, and before I knew it, the scarf was huge! I loved it, and made myself more, gifting some to others, and we still wear our chunky scarves to this day. I was so excited to finish this one in time to wear it while holding a balloon in the Annual Chuy's Children Giving to Children, Thanksgiving Parade, in Austin, Texas, it was the perfect warmth needed for that chilly, Fall morning walk.
